Sometime by Asian Designers

Look. I know. I know. Reviews on social media are tricky - is this person just saying this because they're getting paid? Even I sometimes squint sceptically at the products that's being peddled on the internet (like really people, no jamu is gona make me taller sobs). Personally, I always try to choose the brands with which I can add value, because I enjoy sharing things that I genuinely believe in. It could be a well established name, or even a start up that has potential, as long as I can see myself supporting it in real life.

Anyway, it's part of my resolution this year to be more active in sharing out things that I sincerely like! So I'm telling you right now, that having had this particular bag for the past 2 months - it's now seriously, truly, honestly, my every day staple.

Sometime By Asian Designers, I'm looking at chu.

Sometime by Asian Designers is a local company that specialises in making designer bags made of premium leather. They collaborate for limited collections with local designers, and they never reproduce the same collection (rest assured the bag you have is pretty exclusive, then!)

I first got acquainted with them when Hannah Hairi contacted me to offer a review of their Baby Basta Bag, and she very kindly shipped it to me while I was in UK. It became a go-to pretty purse for me, but not an everyday wear, as it was a little on the smaller side. I noted that the quality was really good (it's very durable! I'm generally very ganas and tend to accidentally campak my bag around oops hehe) but the shape maintained and overall, I thought, huh, this company actually makes pretty good bags.

Then I received the ESATCH S.

Before anything, the Esatch is part of the brand's in-house Essentials collection. This includes key rings (which I have too! It has my name on it and I love it! Ok too hard sell sorry but can't help it, it's true I do love it), cardholders (Hannah if you read this... hint hint), laptop sleeves, ipad sleeves.. ok the list goes on.

Oh my god guys D: I thought the bag was going to be small, but it's just nicely sized to fit my purse, phone, glasses, powerbank, cable, earphones, and my lipsticks. The ESATCH also comes in M and XL sizes. But the more I think about it, I'm pretty glad I don't have a bigger bag that I have to dig around in for things ahah. The quality of the leather is so nice and soft; and thick enough that it holds the structure of the bag (ie, sturdy). I chose the Mocha coloured satchel, but it was a tough pick as there were so many other hues too. To top this off, I actually got to customise my bag. It has my nameeeee. Complete protection from my sister borrowing it hahaha.

Say my name, say my name...

Oh pening kepala

In all honesty I really wouldn't be writing this if I hadn't heard the founder, Nicole W, discuss about the brand on BFM radio last weekend. She talks about quality maintenance, her previous experience in luxury retail, and how bag design isn't just about fashion, but that it has more functional consideration, and is more akin to industrial product design. I appreciate the approach of the company, as it comes from a place of knowledge and skill, not just based on 'hey let's make a bag and wing it'. For a local brand, the quality you get is worth the price (it's actually an affordable investment if you're looking for a long-term bag). You can check them out at https://www.sometime.asia ^^
